Dawn , I think your now ready to be introduced to the other folk rock, English folk rock. If you like acoustic music with wonderful harmony and a folk, jazz, and bluegrass feel then this music is for you.
I'll tell you abut some of the better bands.
First is Pentangle with the voice of JacQue Mc Shee and the two acoustic guitar wizards Burt Jansch, and John Renbourn.
Next is Fairport Convention, with The unforgettable Sandy Denny on vocals, and Richard Thompson and later Jerry Donahue on guitars, and Her splinter band Fotheringay, again with Jerry on guitar.
When I was in a folk band in the 80's the band we 'nicked' most of our set list from was Steeeye Span. with the great Maddy Prior on vocals. I remember seeing them live at a Rock Concert taping in Long Beach, CA in the 70's, the crowd did not know what to make of them. Rick Kemp told the crowd ' You want to Boogie?Well you should have been here last night for Jeff Beck, we don't play that crap'. And the band took off on a set of jigs that blew the place away, with Peter Knight playing fiddle while doing backflips at the same time.
Other Bands would include Amazing Blondel, The Incredible String Band, and Silly Sisters (Maddy Prior and June Tabor splinter band).
Dawn, I envy you, so much wonderful amazing music to discover for the first time.
